Everyone can receive enough Reiki to keep themselves healthy and well. A Reiki Practitioners can receive more Reiki than they need, which they can channel to people, places or situation as a part of a Reiki treatment.
To receive more Reiki, energetic paths ways of the Reiki Practitioner needs to be changed. This process of changing the energetic pathways is called Reiki Attunement.
In the Attunement process Reiki Master performs a ceremony passed down through the Reiki lineage, with tje intention of attuning the student to Reiki. The student take part in the Attunement process with the intention of being attuned to Reiki.
I have noticed that different lineages have slightly different Attunement ceremonies. But all works well. The intention of the Reiki Master and the intention of the student are more important aspects of the Attunement process than the exact steps of the Attunement ceremony. For this reason, I spend enough time helping the student to maintain the correct intention in a relaxed mind throughout the Attunement process. I highly recommend both Reiki Master and Student doing Gassho meditation before Attunement process to center the mind and connect with Reiki.

How to do your best Reiki Healing
Effectiveness of a Reiki Treatment session depends on the preparedness of the Reiki Practitioner to channel Reiki and the readiness of the client to receive Reiki. There are many things Reiki Practitioners can do to keep the mind clam and to get in to the mindset of channeling Reiki.
When we are doing a Reiki treatment, it is the Reiki energy that does all the work. Reiki practitioner is just a channel. Therefore, the level and the type of healing received by the client cannot be influenced by the Reiki Practitioner. All Reiki Practitioner needs to do is to be open to receive and channel Reiki. I have found that just knowing Reiki is going to do the best healing releases all my anxiety and excitement and put me in a clam state of mind.
Reiji-Ho includes Gassho meditation and few other steps.
Steps:
Spend enough time in Gassho so that the next two steps has the best effect on you.
Intuition: Sometimes your intuition will guide you to move your hands. This might not happen all the time, but whenever possible, follow your intuition.
Byosen: All the time pay attention to sensations you feel in your palms (Byosen) and move the hands when sensations guide you to do so. Even when you are not guided by intuition, Byosen will always guide you. Paying attention to Byosen will also help you to stay focused, if your mind tends to wander or when anxiety or excitement creep up.
More you listen to your Intuition and Byosen, you will notice that your Intuition and sensitivity to Byosen also increases.

BREaTHE will make you a better healer!
Dr. Alan Watkins says that we don't have to be a Yogic Master to control our mind, we just need to know the "proper technique". The level of control he is referring is to be able to generate "high quality thoughts" even when we are under heavy pressure.
His findings are that quality of our thoughts and the actual thoughts are hugely influenced by our biology. Quality of thinking cannot be improved just by thinking.
He shows how regulation of breath can improve the quality of thoughts in few minutes.
Out of the 12 different aspects of breath that can be regulated and the most important aspects are;
He gives an acronym for us to easily remember the technique,

Getting the best from your Gassho Meditation
Gassho is the meditation used by Reiki practitioners to connect and prepare their mind to do a Reiki treatment or a Reiki attunement. Reiki practitioners just love the Gassho meditation not because it is simple meditation, rather because it is a very effective meditation. With Gassho, a Reiki practitioner can center their mind and connect with Reiki within few minutes.
Now you have started the Gassho meditation. Stay in this meditative state of awareness for as long as you would like.
Tip 1: If you are finding it difficult to sense the energetic connection between the tips of middle fingers, then find out which part of the hand you are having the strongest sensation. Use that point as your point of reference.
Tip 2: Breath rhythmically and evenly. Regulating your breath is a very good habit. Regulate your breath when ever possible. (Read more about BREaTHE)
Tip 3: Smile. Smile makes an immediate positive change in your inner state.
Tip 4: I find that Gassho works best for me when I keep the head strait. Others have reported that they need to bend the head forward. So try out what works for you.
We would love to hear your experience with Gassho meditation and tips to do a better Gassho meditation.

Gassho Meditation - Basic Steps
- Bring your hands together as in the image. This is usually referred to as "the prayer position".
- Close your eyes.
- Focus your attention to the sensation where the tips of you middle fingers touch each other - what you will experience depends on the way you perceive Reiki and it changes from person to person (If you have a difficulty feeling sensations then read Tip 1).
- Pay attention only to this sensation.
Now you have started the Gassho meditation. Stay in this meditative state of awareness for as long as you would like.
