Master Kolitha GamakaMy Journey in Complementary Healing

Martial Arts back ground

When I was fifteen, my father enrolled me in a Shotokan Karate class. It was my first exposure to the real word. Shotokan gave me the first hand experience of how the state of mind affect the physical body. It was an amazing experience and I was hooked on martial arts. I was actively looking for material and started reading everything I can find – it was pre-internet era, so books and magazines were the main form of communication. That's when I was introduced to Qi energy, both in Tai-Chi and Aikido.

Indigenous Healers in Maternal Ancestry

Ancestors of my mother had done indigenous healing via medicinal plants and chanting. Mother used the share many storied of her father performing miraculous treatments using this system. Unfortunately none of his children has learn the system. Few chantings were passed down to my mother, and I have seen her using them to make people better. Some times she would just touch them on the head for a while and they would feel better. At that time I did not related the concept of Qi energy and what my mother does.

Learning NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programming

Later in my life, I learned NLP the art and science of human excellence with Ms Jayamini Samarathunge, and realized how our mind can affect our body and everyone else around us. NLP such a practical knowledge area, where we can immediately change the way we behave my changing thoughts, beliefs and attitudes.

My NLP teacher turn out to be a Reiki Master too! And I am one of her first students.

After my Reiki degree II attunement, I focused on mastering Reiki. Intention was to become the best Reiki healer I could be. Many things I have learned in the period is added to the Reiki training program, some of which I share in this blog.

After about two years of practicing my teacher told me I am ready to be a Reiki Master!

And that is how I happen to be teaching Reiki.

I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to,
My Reiki teacher and her lineage because of their choice to teach Reiki that helped countless beings,
My parents and their ancestors, because of them I am here today,
My fellow students and my sister because of their companionship making this journey worth while, and
My students because of the tremendous change they are already bringing to the world

Why do I teach Reiki

My intention of training Reiki is to give the world the gift of least ten thousand practitioners. These practitioners will continue to affect themselves and everyone they touch spreading love and kindness throughout the world.

I believe when we positively affect even if it one life at a time, before we know it we have built a movement. When so many of us are building this movement, then soon it is going to make a perment positive shift.

Never underestimate the power of an act done with love and kindness!
